Membership
  • The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows follows the traditional school calendar set forth by Washoe County School District.
  • Membership year runs from June 1—May 31.
  • Membership forms must be completed annually.
  • A parent/guardian must attend an orientation before children 6 – 12 may start the program.
  • The orientation reviews policies, activities and answers any questions parents may have regarding our program. It is required annually for parents/guardians.
  • Orientations are conducted throughout the summer. For a full schedule of membership orientations, please click here.
  • Teens may pick up an application from the Membership Office or their Site Coordinator.
  • After May 31, members who have not renewed will not be able to attend the Club until orientation is completed.

The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows will keep the Club environment as safe and positive as possible for not only the members but also the staff. Please reference the Rules Handout for a complete list and make sure your child knows them when they attend the Club.

Field Trips, Specialty Camps & Credits
  • To attend field trips or specialty camps, members 6 – 12 must have their membership card and a field trip T-shirt.
  • T-Shirts are color coded by site: Pennington, Billinghurst = Red; DWR, Bresson Avenue Site = Green; Neil Road, Fernley = Orange; Lemmon Valley = Yellow
  • Lost shirts will not be replaced.
  • For safety purposes, please do not write the member’s name on the shirt.
  • Some field trips and specialty camps will require additional items such as waivers, towels, water bottles and sunscreen.
  • Credits will be issued only if the child is not at the Club due to an illness, family emergency, etc. However, credits must be requested no later than the day of the event.
  • Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows reserves the right to relocate the destination of a field trip without notice with a trip of equal or lesser value.
  • Field trips must be paid for the week prior for the member to attend. This allows the Club to make adjustments for staffing ratios.
Financial Assistance
  • NO child is ever turned away because of the inability to pay.
  • Financial assistance is offered through the Children’s Cabinet or the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows.
  • Financial Aid packets are available at all orientations and must be filled out and turned in with required documents before it will be processed.
  • Proof of income is required as well as Social Security numbers.
  • Children can only be on one financial program at a time, and if you need to cancel service, a written request must be provided.
  • Financial Aid year runs July 1—June 30.
  • Parents/Guardians must apply annually to qualify.

SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION | SUMMER CAMP PLANNER

Summer Camp registration begins Monday, May 1, 2017. Membership Orientations are held May through June at youth sites (download the Summer Youth Orientation Schedule for exact days/times). A parent/guardian must attend an orientation before children 6–12 may start the Summer Camp program. Parents/guardians will receive all necessary forms and information at this 30 minute orientation.

RENO-SPARKS KICKOFF TO SUMMER & BBQ

Attend the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows’ annual Kickoff to Summer & BBQ. The event features FREE annual memberships for attendees, face painting, FREE lunch, bounce houses and Parent Membership Orientations in English and Spanish every 15 minutes (required for new and renewing members). TRADITIONAL SUMMER DAY CAMP

Adventure is out there! Join us for a summer full of excitement and thrills. Activities include indoor and outdoor games, arts-n-crafts, sports and many more weekly activities. Summer Day Camp features weekly themes and special field trips (for an additional fee) including Wild Waters, Coconut Bowl, Jump Man Jump, Roller Kingdom, mini golf, movies, Discovery Museum, Reno Aces games, bowling, and arcades. Summer Day Camp includes breakfast and lunch daily.

SPECIALTY CAMPS

Looking for exciting camps for special interests like science or swimming? Check out the Club’s array of summer Specialty Camps! These camps run in addition to and in conjunction with the Traditional Day Camp program at all sites, so campers can enjoy their Specialty Camp and then rejoin the Day Camp program before or after their assigned specialty camp time. Specialty Camp fees include the weekly Day Camp fee of $40. Specialty Camps are only offered at three youth sites in Reno and one site in Fernley, including the William N. Pennington Facility (1300 Foster Dr., Reno), Donald W. Reynolds Facility (2680 East Ninth Street, Reno) Billinghurst Middle School (6685 Chesterfield Ln., Reno) and Fernley Intermediate School (320 US Highway 95 A South, Fernley). Register for Specialty Camps at the site which the camp is offered, Weeks 1 – 8 during the Summer Camp Program.

Univerity of Reno

Club Kids’ College

CKC acts as a stepping stone between Club members and all of the opportunities that await them in college at the University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College. Club members return to this camp year after year with trips to Mackay Stadium, Cultural Diversity Center, Planetarium, and awesome engineering labs. With a re-vamped camp and new tours, 2016 is going to be the best year yet!

Robotics Club

Robotics Camp

The future is here! Prepare to gain mastery over this exciting technological power of robotics. From the real Mars Rovers to the fictional BB8s and C3POs, we will grasp how robots are part of our lives and future. In this camp you will master LEGO engineering techniques and learn how to program LEGO robots to solve complex issues.

Get ready for a mind-blowing camp that will get you stream-ed up to go back to school. This camp makes the great outdoors of northern Nevada into the most interactive and exciting classroom. The sky is literally the limit to what can happen each day. So join in as we create our own adventures in the wilderness. Gain some wisdom and insight from teachers and wilderness guides. The idea of Stream and Trails Camp is that we are using ST(R)EAM activities out in nature. We will explore Science, Technology, (Reading), Engineering, Art and Math!

Come play with clay! Club members will learn the basics of ceramics through slab work, coil pots and spinning pots on the wheel. If you like getting your hands dirty and want to learn how to create three dimensional art work, then this is the camp for you!

Campers are instructed on the basics of cheerleading including: dancing, motions, jumps, chants, cheers, tumbling, stunts, spirit and performance skills. This is a perfect camp for the beginner cheerleader or the cheerleader that just wants to have fun. This is a NON competitive program instructed by a local High School Cheer coach and her team. (Note: Campers, please wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes.)

Junior Giants Baseball

Take me out to the ball game! Junior Giants is a FREE non-competitive and innovated baseball program for boys and girls ages 5-12 years old. Sponsored by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund, each child will receive a T-shirt and hat, gain knowledge playing in organized games, and get the opportunity to experience a Major League Baseball game. The program will focus on the fundamentals of baseball and encourage our players to live healthy and productive lives.

Pack Leaders Camp

Fun and exciting activities to help young boys learn how to act like young men. This camp is dedicated to helping build life skills needed for decision-making, conflict resolution and healthy relationships. This camp is filled with traditional and new activities and games that will also teach good fitness, health, hygiene, self-esteem and self-worth. End the week with a BBQ and competitive activity.

Skate Camp

This year, in partnership with D.A.F.F.Y. Skate Co., Club members will have the skateboard experience of a lifetime! Along with the opportunity to build and keep their own skateboards, participants will learn basic skateboarding skills, board and skate park etiquette, and have the chance to hit some of the best skate parks in our area.

Hip Hop Dance Camp

Fernley – Hip Hop Dance Camp

Club members will learn basic hip hop movement including isolations, break dancing and even a few specialized dance moves. The overall structure of a professional dance class will be taught all while learning a choreographed dance which members will perform at the end of the week. This camp will be taught by Ebony Miller of Steppin’ Up Dance.

This is a two-week camp – for a total of eight lessons! Whether your child is a beginner, advanced or anywhere in between, this camp is for them. They will either learn the basics of swimming or improve their swimming skills.

Whether it’s a game of pool at the “Club” at the Donald W. Reynolds Facility, video games at Project Solution, or practicing hip-hop dance at the Pennington Facility in Reno, there is no shortage of options for teenagers this summer in Reno, Sparks and Fernley.

Basic principles guide the mission of the Boys & Girls Club: We operate in the Truckee Meadows as a place where youth can come and have fun, build character, learn life-skills and develop meaningful relationships. It is a formula that inspires success, and over the years the Club has had positive interaction with countless youth who have gone on to pursue success in their lives and relationships.

New teens are always welcome at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows – all for a $20 annual membership – so come check out one of our sites and see what being a member of the “Club” is all about.
