Self motivated volunteers and college course or work required community service persons interested in giving their time to the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows are required to go through our screening process. This process will give you an idea of how the Club functions. It will also help us learn a little about you and your reasons for volunteering. The Boys & Girls Club is a youth agency. Members are aged 6 to 18, many of them looking at adults as role models. For this reason, we must make sure we have people of sound character. Prospective persons should follow the steps below:
-
Read literature packet which explains the Boys & Girls Club mission statement, rules policies, regulations, and programs.
-
Fill out a prospective volunteer application. After you have completed the application please return it immediately to The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows Donald W. Reynolds Facility, 2680 E. 9th Street, Reno, NV 89512.
-
Interview with a Boys & Girls Club Supervisor.
-
Attend a Volunteer Orientation.
-
Tour the facility with a Club employee. Various programs and the daily schedule will be explained to you. You will also have the opportunity to meet a few of the members.
-
Meet with a supervisor to discuss your areas of interest as well as the days and times you are available and willing to commit to the club.
-
All volunteers must be fingerprinted. We must run a background check. You will be fingerprinted at a local police station.
-
Within a few weeks, we will design a schedule for you. We will find the appropriate programs and assign a time which is feasible for you.
A different screening process applies to youth volunteers and youth with court ordered community service.
