Education Program

Education programs are a core element of all Boys & Girls Club activities and daily goals. The Education Director and Coordinator help integrate national BGCA programs like Power Hour, Summer Brain Gain, and Project Learn at every BGCTM site, and also provide support with STEM programming and seasonal education activities. The Education program is also responsible for our site wide mentoring program, “Be GREAT! Graduate” which targets at-risk youth and provides them with 1-on-1 volunteer support.  Our education department also helps our high school students on the path to College and beyond with our College Bound Case Files.
Our Literacy Program is implemented at several sites on a quarterly basis with proven success rates for our kinder through third graders who are struggling with reading and writing. Early literacy skills are critical to a child’s future success.  In fact, studies have shown that kids whose literacy skills are behind in as early as third grade are four times less likely to graduate from high school.

We’re doing our part to make sure our members are equipped with the literacy skills they need to succeed today and into the future.  Under a grant from United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra, and in partnership with four other regional Boys & Girls Clubs, we are proud to offer BGC Reads.

Geared toward children in grades K-3, BGC Reads is a fun, interactive program that builds literacy skills and promotes academic success.  The eight-week curriculum is offered multiple times annually, both during the school year and in the summer.  For more information, or to register your child for BGC Reads, contact Tina Drudi at (775) 360-2451 or tdrudi@bgctm.org.
