Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows: A positive place for kids in Fernley
The Boys & Girls Club of Fernley started when the town’s existing after-school program was closed in 2010 due to a cut in county funding. The idea of opening a Boys & Girls Club had been considered for years, but now it is a reality!
The Club follows the Lyon County School District calendar including all breaks (full-day programming is offered during school breaks). During the school year, the Club runs youth before and afterschool programming at Fernley Intermediate School, Cottonwood ES, and East Valley ES with a lunch & after school teen program at Silverland MS. The morning programs will start at 6 a.m. until school starts each weekday, while the elementary and teen programs will run from release until 6 p.m. each weekday. Fees are $4 for morning and $4 for afternoons during the school year for elementary and intermediate students, and free for middle and high school students. Annual Club memberships are $20, and scholarships/financial assistance is also available on an as-needed basis.
School Closure Days
Boys & Girls Club will be open on most week days that the schools are closed, at our Fernley Intermediate School location. These days will be FREE to all members with additional fees for field trips, when offered. On site, members will be participating in fun interactive Boys & Girls Club programming. Options will include art projects, rec. room, X-Box games, sports, S.M.A.R.T. Moves and many more. To participate in these opportunities, students must be active members prior to attending.
Get in to the Club
Parents interested in enrolling their children in the Boys & Girls Club youth program will have to attend a mandatory orientation. Orientations are held every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. inside the Boys & Girls Club at Fernley Intermediate School.
