BGCTM Receives $7,500 Contribution from Amerigroup Nevada and its Foundation at Day for Kids Event
Amerigroup Nevada and its foundation contributed a total of $7,500 to Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows to improve the health and well-being of youth in Reno, Sparks and Fernley. As Nevada’s kids and teens head back to school, through this contribution, the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows provides them with critical programming during after-school time that provides a positive environment and supports a healthy, active lifestyle.
“Kids and teens today face a variety of challenges when it comes to eating healthy and staying physically fit. That’s why we support the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, to help ensure that our youth build life-long healthy habits with a firm foundation of support,” said Eric Lloyd, president of Amerigroup Nevada.
The total $7,500 contribution is from a $2,500 Day for Kids event sponsorship from Amerigroup Nevada and $5,000 Focus Grant from the Amerigroup Foundation. The Day for Kids event that took place this past Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at Foster Field at Reno High School and Amerigroup Nevada’s sponsorship provided health education information and a fun filled day of physical activities for youth and families in Reno. The $5,000 Focus Grant provides programming focused on teaching the importance of healthy eating habits and being physically active. It also provides youth the ability to learn about ways to increase their fruit and veggie consumption and living a healthy lifestyle.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support and partnership of Amerigroup Nevada, because without their support we would not be able to impact so many kids and teens each year,” said Mike Wurm, executive director of Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. “These activities and programs provide much needed health information to youth who need it most, and create a positive foundation for them to grow and thrive.”
