“When school is out, Clubs are in” . . . .
Message from Executive Director, Mike Wurm
I love Reno! We have had spring weather all winter and now that Spring is here it is getting cold! Only in Reno!! It has been a very busy time for all of us at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. I recently spent time in Washington DC as part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America ‘Day of Advocacy’. For a week, Clubs from all across the country come together to talk about issues pertaining to kids and how legislation being proposed may affect them. Once well-versed, we all hit the Hill to talk to our respective legislators. It was a fun and educational experience to say the least!
“When school is out, Clubs are in,” is our mantra at the Boys & Girls Club. This week our Clubs are full of kids on Spring Break! While staff is busy leading kids through activities and fun programs, we are also busy preparing for Summer Camp. May is a big month for parents and kids as they make their summer plans. Below are some important dates for you to remember…
- Summer Camp Program Reg. Opens May 1
- Fernley Kick Off to Summer & BBQ – May 2
- Reno-Sparks Kick Off to Summer & BBQ – May 9
If you’re participating in Moms on the Run this year, be sure to stop by our Moms on the Run Brunch following the run. Check out the article below for details. Also in this issue, you’ll find everything you need to know about our Summer Camp program, from hours of operation to specialty camp details to how to sign up for a free membership.
Enjoy this chilly Spring as we look forward to a warm, fun-filled summer!
