Food program helps kids with nutrition

By Lauren Soulam, Grants Director

Hunger is a very real issue, not just on a national or international level, but right here in northern Nevada and likely right in your neighborhood. At the Boys & Girls Club, we are pleased to play a part to ensure that no child in the Truckee Meadows goes hungry. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner every weekday to every child who walks through our doors.

The majority of our meals are home cooked, and all of our meals meet federal nutrition guidelines. So we know that our kids are getting healthy and tasty food each time they visit the Club. This vital program is only possible through the support of several funders, including the Child and Adult Food Care Program, the Summer Food Service Program, the William N. Pennington Foundation and the Wal-Mart State Giving Program. We thank these supporters for allowing us to care for our kids on the most basic level with a hot, healthy meal.
