Club members to honor MLK legacy with service
The Boys & Girls Club will host an annual program honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 16, from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. More than 50 kids are expected to participate.
The day’s activities will start with a silent march to Pat Baker Park in remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr. The kids will then do a community clean-up on Montello and E. 9th streets (also part of the Club’s participation in the Give Back Like Jack community service program).
Once the kids have returned, there will be theatrical performances by Mrs. Evette Perry-Buchanan, A.B.L.E. Women and Boys & Girls Club staff who will be reciting the “I Have a Dream” speech.
Finally, there will be an art exhibit of works done by members at the Club’s 18 sites, showcasing legendary African American historical figures and events.
