Preparing for New Year’s kickoff of Give Back Like Jack campaign

 In Donor, Events

Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada visited the Club to deliver some of the food that will be used to pack hundreds of day packs at the Club as we kick off our Give Back Like Jack campaign on New Year’s Eve.

The day packs are distributed by St. Vincent’s Food Pantry to needy individuals in the Northern Nevada area. During the New Year’s Eve event, more than 100 kids – most of whom are teenagers – will be coming to the Club for a safe sleepover night. They will spend some of that time learning the value of giving back to their community, packaging food items that will be distributed by St. Vincent’s into the new year.

The effort is the first of many that will take place under the auspices of the “Give Back Like Jack” community pride campaign. The campaign, a partnership of the Boys & Girls Club, Catholic Charities, Bishop Manogue High School, the University of Nevada and Our Lady of the Snows, is designed to memorialize the late Jack Reviglio, one of the founders of the Boys & Girls Club and a great benefactor the partner organizations. Just as Jack’s philosophy of selfless giving continues to inspire so many in our community, the Give Back Like Jack campaign hopes to inspire new generations to do good for the sake of doing good, and share their stories.

Over the course of the next three months, the Give Back Like Jack partner organizations, as well as others in the community, will work on community projects large and small, putting their positive stamp on the world like Jack and the Reviglio family have always done. On March 17 (held the closest Saturday to Washoe County’s Jack Reviglio Day), the campaign will culminate with a pep rally-style banquet, where participants and organizations can share stories about how they were able to help or benefit from the Give Back Like Jack campaign. If collectively we are able to pass on even a little bit of Jack’s giving spirit, the world will be a better place.
