Gamble to kick it for kids at senior soccer sprint
It might be the most anticipated head-to-head match-up in Reno since the Johnson-Jeffries fight, and one girl is putting it all on the line for the Boys & Girls Club.
“Elite” sprinter Shelly Gamble will represent the Club tomorrow night (June 30) in a duel with her much-senior coed soccer teammate Andrew Tolley. At stake is a pot of money contributed by friends and supporters, with the cash going to the charity of the winner’s choice. Shelly is racing for the Boys & Girls Club, and our friend Klaus Grimm at Blue Moon Promotions has offered to match the total, should Shelly Win. Andrew will be racing for the Reno Home for Battered Wives. Tim Erlach will match the total for an Andrew win.
So, the Club is reaching out to our friends to ask for help to sweeten the pot. Each dollar donated will be doubled, and it’s all for a good cause, regardless of the outcome. The action takes place at 5:50 p.m. at the Lower Field at South Valleys immediately before tomorrow’s coed games. The Club is even planning to bring some kids down to cheer Shelly on to victory.
